Win a Cabin |
Having taken 3 years to source and build, the solid wood cabin features three bedrooms, a large basement games room and sits on its own 600m² plot overlooking the river and forest. The prize also includes a brand new 4x4 off-road vehicle, or 2 off-road bikes. In addition, the winner will be given return flights for 2 people from the nearest airport to Bulgaria, including transfers to Bansko to pick up the keys to the chalet prize at a champagne reception. The British couple also aim to organise a guided tour of the local ski resort plus a holiday activity of the winner's choice - choose from skiing, horse riding, quad biking, wolf/bear watching, guided hikes, guided mountain biking or jeep safari (all choices are time of year dependent). 20% of the profit from this house competition are intended for BSAPP (Bulgarian Society for Animal Protection & Preservation). The remainder is expected to be used to establish premises for a dog sanctuary for stray dogs. Main features of the chalet:
Type: Quiz or Questions (Paid) Ticket Price: £3 Estimated Value: Undisclosed Total Tickets: 90,000 Location: Bansko, Bulgaria Ends: 30 June 2009 Competition OutcomeThe competition was extended twice after the targeted number of tickets wasn't reached by the original end date on 23 December 2008 and the organisers were no longer able to process payments via their website. The latest blog post dated July 2009 indicates that all tickets will be refunded to players in due course.

Subscribe to this comment's feedRe: Was this a con...? @ Sheitma, Thanks for your comment. We've been regularly checking for updates on the website but so far nothing has been published in the blog or the homepage. I hope the organisers are able to provide some sort of guidance soon to address the concerns you are expressing. Given the competition was extended twice, I would expect most people who entered are now very keen to hear some news on the outcome of the contest. We will continue monitoring the status of this competition and make sure to update this page as soon as we find out new information. In the meantime, if you do receive an update yourself, we would be grateful if you could share it with us here. This is precisely the type of situation that erodes confidence in win a house competitions generally and we hope - for your sake as well as for anyone else that entered - that it can be clarified very soon. Trading Standards Involved.. Well, I too didn't get a reply after emailing. I have contacted Trading Standards to ask them what's going on and apparently a lot of people have complained about this draw (Or lack of). Unfortunately, it seems they are unable to contact the organisers of the competition!! To me, it certainly appears like a draw will not now take place. I'd suggest anyone who is worried contacts trading standards and lodges a formal complaint. They should also contact their credit card company and request a "charge-back". Anyone know how much the organisers raised via this "website"?? Steve Update on Win a Cabin results We just noticed the website has been updated with a blog post for July 2009: "Firstly, apologies to all for the delay on the update. Unfortunately July has been a bad month for us on many many fronts not least of which it is puppy time of year and the villagers seem to think we like them being thrown over the fence at all hours! Anyway. We have taken this time to evaluate the situation and we have decided thus. Despite managing to gain much national and international press coverage both from the house raffle perspective and the dog shelter, we haven’t made up nearly enough ticket sales to warrant drawing the house. In fact, after meeting with our accountants, they have advised us against even drawing the money prize as with the financial costs of doing so it would leave us even more out of pocket. So, we have decided to stop the competition and pay back the money to everyone who has entered. [...] All the monies are in holding with the payment service providers and as such we have had NO access to it (or any interest on the money). As the money came from numerous payment sources then we have to arrange different refunds. Simply email us with the ticket number and we will check the refund arrangements. {...] Many thanks to all who entered, and to the brilliant members of the press who gave us time and exposure for our competition. Brian & Michelle" If you haven't received any email from the organisers, we suggest you contact them to arrange for the refund of your tickets. email reply from owners Received this after enquiring about my ticket purchase. Must check with my credit card company if it actually went out. Also I forgot about consumer rights when purchase for goods or services with a credit card - shame the draw didn't go ahead. ------------------------------------------ Many thanks for your entry at the time and the support. With regards to your tickets, you were never actually charged for your ticket in April. The credit card details were held by the bank and would only be charged when the competition closes (Bank Stipulation). As it is not being drawn, the bank has been told to destroy all the credit card details. Once again, many thanks for the support. |
