Hi Paul,
I think you're right that a lot of people would be very happy with the cash even if it's less than the value of the house... Take the Cheltenham competition, the winner I think got £83K or something, that's an amazing amount of money even if it's well below the value of the underground house! If I won something like that I would be over the moon!

I'll have a look at your competition as well thanks for the info! cheers, Carole

Darren, you are absolutely right - each competition has a great prize so choosing which to enter can be difficult.

Unless you can afford to enter them all, I guess its a matter of deciding which competition you would stand the best chance of winning rather than which property you like the best.

From the feedback we get from entrants to our competition WinOurHome.com , most people if they are honest are more interested in the "cash" value if they won.

Sure some may aim to live in to the property if they won (there are plenty that say they would love to live in ours) but most I think would choose to sell it to then use the cash to clear their own mortgage or buy a property of their choice instead. If I won a super car for instance (and fingers crossed I will!) I would drive it around for maybe 2 weeks then sell it - but maybe that's just me?

Selling enough tickets is clearly an essential ingredient to competition organisers like me and should be equally important to entrants. Competition organisers like me have to raise enough to fund the prize and the running of the competition itself. If they don't, providing the set up costs have been covered, most like us will award a cash prize instead. Here is where individual property owner organisers like me have an advantage to offer to entrants.

Because our set up and running costs are much lower than those of larger company run competitions, we need to sell far fewer tickets for a bigger cash prize. Put another way we don't require as many entrants.

That also means entrants stand better odds of winning simply due to competing with fewer people. Our odds for instance are 2 chances in 18500 for each £25 spent.

But publicity is the key and that is exactly what Win-House.co.uk does so well. Entrants can find the competitions they like and organisers sell enough tickets to give away houses that change lives. Its a win-win situation for all concerned so a huge well done to the brains behind this fantastic site!

Sorry for the long (biased) post but I hope it answers your questions. Feel free to keep them coming....

Hi and thanks for this great site... I'm interested in finding out about house raffles but I'm just not sure which one to enter, they all look nice but how do I know they will sell enough tickets? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wondering. Cheers, Darren
