I just wish there were a magic formula for assessing a competition - I have given it a great deal of thought whilst trying to promote our own competition. My conclusion? There is no way to assess all as if they were the same because they simply are not. Thankfully people are different too!
Entering a competition I guess is mostly an emotional rather than a logical decision. Sure we may apply logic to justify our choice once made subliminally but by then isn't the decision already made?
I'd love to know the answer to this so I could adapt our competition to suit the majority - in fact Carole, you have given me an idea but it needs a different discussion group which I will do now!
How to pick the right competition for you
WIN or LOSE ?

What do you look for as a player? I tend to focus on 3 things primarily: the house itself, my odds of winning and the price of entry. If the game looks too hard, I might not enter even if the rest looks really good... What about you?

Good points Carole , but when it comes to a property , as long as it needs very little work , it does not really matter where it is , if , your not going to make it your very own home . As far as entering , well unfortunately , it has to be via a method , by which the gambling authority ,are happy that not everyone can gain access to the answer / answers, ( Very Vague ).If you had to consider odds , then no one would enter any competition , or gamble at all .As for price , that is one for the individual , after all . what is anything REALLY worth ?
However , who is going to argue if they WIN a house or lottery for very little money ? - Something for virtually nothing !! - Good odds for me !!

I tend to be attracted by raffles that support a good cause, because I don't mind as much if I lose in that case! But otherwise I look at the prize and the cost of a ticket first of all, I'm less focused on odds of winning because I just wish for the best :)

Hi Carole! I tend to look at how much it costs to play first of all, and how many tickets are for sale. I can always sell or rent the house if it's too far away from where I live and if I'm not likely to stay there for holidays!
