Would a raffle be a better way to sell your house quickly?

In the Independent's regular 'House Doctor' feature, one reader whose house has been on the market for 21 months raised the question lots of people have been asking recently: is the seemingly 'outlandish' option of selling tickets to raffle their house off something to consider more seriously?

Sam Dunn, the Independent's resident house doctor, highlights the difficulties faced by the Wilshaws in their own house raffle.

He goes on to mention that on the back of this high profile story, the Gambling Commission has warned that "other homeowners who try to sell using such prize competitions could also fall foul of the Gambling Act 2005.".

His conclusion that "opting for a further drop in your property's price might yield a quicker sale" makes sense given raffling your house involves ascertaining and meeting regulatory standards.

However the article unfortunately does not elaborate on how to structure a house competition that would meet the requirements of the Gambling Act.

Yes
yes a raffle does make sense. everyone would still get the same percentage of the sale so what difference does the way you market the house make??
