| Mother of one Jennifer Draa's lucky ticket was picked amongst 635,000 entries, winning her a brand new, fully automated house in Lincoln Crossing, build over two floors. Her new family home, which is expected to be worth at least $200,000, will be packed full of technology. The single mum from California won her dream home by entering a free property raffle organised by a property developer. Jennifer and her son Ryan, who live in Northen California, will watch their home being built from scratch by Taylor Morrison, the company that ran the property sweepstake, until they move in in early 2009. The company intends to give away a similar home in 2009 in its next 'Dream Home Giveaway'. To find out more about their story, you can track every step of the building of the new family house on the dream home blog. Related items

Subscribe to this comment's feedRe: Single US mum wins her dream family home - for free Good luck to her I hope she and her son will be very happy in their new home but with 64 entries she was a Trier, just goes to show persistence pays off and that is one fine looking property, The USA seems to have a better success rate when it comes to house draws coming to a conclusion, here in the UK people seem to think differently if they stand to win a house of 200 or 300k for a ticket costing only £10 or £20 they say ‘aw that’s too cheap how can you win all that for only £10’ and yet that is what happens all over Europe and the USA , An apartment in London was given away recently they did not reach the required amount of ticket sales but gave it anyway in the hope that the money can be recouped in later draws for the other 10 apartments and other sites invite you to ‘Pickahouse’ or choose a ‘Dreamhome’ you can even win a pub. Have more faith Britain; Take a chance somebody has to win Re: Single US mum wins her dream family home - for free @ Eamon, Yes from time to time, it's nice to hear some good news like this. Over in Australia, a player recently won a $1.2 million waterfront home on the Gold Coast of Queensland. Mater Prize Home has been run as a successful charity house raffle for years, demonstrating that this can also be used as a great way for fundraising. Although house raffles and competitions are being run successfully in other countries, as you suggest this hasn't yet developed as much in the UK. |
