Cheltenham House winner awarded 83,000 pounds

The 'Win The Cheltenham House' competition concluded last week after attracting a total of 5,706 entries. The contest, which was relaunched as a Spot the Frisbee competition in January, was designed to give away the 'Underground House' featured in Channel 4's Grand Designs show.

Despite falling short of the targeted 49,000 entries, Tim and Zoe Bawtree were able to raise a first prize cash fund of £83,000, in addition to raising £14,500 for Teenage Cancer Trust.

According to the statement published today on their website, Christine Evelene was awarded the top prize. Although she failed to win a house, this still represents a life-changing prize for the 38-year old Londoner. A number of runner-up prize winners have yet to be announced as well.

Tim and Zoe Bawtree intend re-mortgage their Regency House on a buy-to-let basis to finance their Development Loan. Their second underground house, which was featured in the Grand Designs program, will be put back onto the market for a normal sale.

Lots of money!!
Wow even if the lady didn't win the house, that's quite a lot of cash! That would definitely change my life... Good luck to her!

Nice price definitely
I would be delighted to win something like that! Obviously disappointing it's not that beautiful house but you can't complain either can you :)

See - Someone wins even when all the tickets are not sold!
This is great proof that these competitions work and that organisers like me will honour our promise to entrants even if less than the target number of tickets are sold. I just hope that the 5,705 people that didn't win Tim & Zoe's prize enter my competition now! WinOurHome.com :0)

Good result
Can't say I'm surprised given they had to restart their contest half-way through.... Still a nice prize for the winner no doubt! Good to see that they were true to their word definitely.

Yes - someone will win even if tickets are not all sold
I agree with Paul's comments this is great proof that these competitions work and they are genuine and we will honour the prize fund if all tickets are not sold. We are running the 'Win a Hotel' competition as owners want to retire now. I think these competitions are a fabulous way of someone winning a life changing opportunity. It's a shame there arent more of them! Good luck everyone. winahotel.co.uk
