Daily Mail Dream Christmas Cottage - where is it located?

The Daily Mail is giving away a beautiful Grade-II listed detached cottage this Christmas, absolutely free! Valued at £340,000, the Dream Christmas Cottage looks picture perfect and could be yours simply by collecting 14 tokens or keywords between 20 November and 16 December 2010. As usual, there is very little information about the location of the property in the description of the competition. We asked our members where they thought it could be located, and it turns out it's also in Suffolk, just 7 miles away from the last Daily Mail 'Dream Cottage'!

Win the Daily Mail Dream Christmas CottageThe charming property looks delightful covered with snow in this Christmas-themed image. With four bedrooms, a large kitchen and a pretty country garden and lawns, it will probably capture the imagination of many people.

The thatched roof is somewhat similar to the one we saw on the last 'Dream Cottage' given away by the Daily Mail over the summer. Last time, one of our members was quick to point out the prize cottage was located in Elmswell in Suffolk. We were hoping someone out there could recognise this property and give the rest of us an idea of where it is located.

The only reference to location on the Daily Mail site is: "Our charming Dream Christmas Cottage is [...] set in a picture perfect village location." Here's some more information about the property:

  • Distinctive thatched roof
  • Classic five-bar gate with a gravel drive
  • Enclosed courtyard with parking for several cars and its own garage
  • Views over a quarter of an acre of country gardens, lawns and flower borders

christmas-cottage-locationWe thought that wasn't much to go on, and yet it only took 24 hours for catgotthecream to send us the full address and postcode for the cottage! This property is located in Stowmarket, Suffolk, which helps explain the thatched roof. That's just 7 miles away from the last Daily Mail 'Dream Cottage'!

Just like the last cottage, the house might still be occupied so we won't publish the full address to protect the owners' privacy.

I'm guessing
The Daily Mail promotions dept must have spent a couple of days in the area and asked estate agents to show them all the cottages they could use.

They must have decided to get both around the same time, who knows maybe there'll be a 3rd one in a neighbouring village?

My money's on Woolpit or Wetherden.
