US couple win a house in local radio contest

Wendy Chandler recently won a $250,000 home by entering a contest on her local radio station, as part of the Rock 95 and KOOL FM win a house competition. In this short interview in The Barrie Examiner, comping enthusiast Chandler and her out-of-work partner Chris Fallis admit this couldn't have come at a better time for the couple: "We were in dire straits," Chandler said. "We had just remortgaged our house to cover debt. This is an extreme 180."

"I enter contests as a hobby," Chandler added. "I expect to win. But I was quite stunned. This is a big score."

The win a house radio contest, which was organised in partnership with a local property company, required listeners to call in as soon as they heard the sound of a ringing doorbell. One lucky caller was invited to a secret "House Winning Party" together with one guest for a chance of winning the property prize.
