Jennifer Draa, who entered 64 tickets into the win a house raffle for free, saw one of her tickets picked amongst 635,000 entries. The winner could then follow every step of the building project on the property raffle blog run by the raffle organisers.

The Lincoln News Messenger in California recently published an interview featuring Jennifer and her son moving into their brand new home. “It’s just great,” Draa said. “Especially with the economy the way it is these days. I could plan for something like this but there’s no way I could have just gone out and bought it.”

Although according to US law Draa is liable for some $96,000 in taxes on the total package, her win will certainly encourage thousands more people to have a go in this year's 'Dream Home Giveaway', organised once again by property building company Taylor Morrison.

The property raffle, which is open to US citizens aged 21 or older, kicked off at the start of April. Entries are accepted for free both online and at sales offices until 1 June 2009. You can find out more on the official property raffle website.
