Daily Mail Dream Cottage 2011: where is it located?

The location of the Daily Mail Dream Cottage is always a source of interest as the tabloid paper usually doesn't provide many details until the competition has ended. To save you the trouble of searching through forums and discussion boards, here are some details thanks to some input from our members. If you don't want to read any further, the 2011 Dream Cottage is located in Redgrave in Norfolk.

Daily Mail Dream Cottage 2011The distinctive thatched roof gave it away for a few of you, but where exactly is the Dream Cottage located in England? Situated about 5 miles from Diss, 18 miles from Bury St Edmonds and less than 30 miles from Norwich, Redgrave sits on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Grade-II listed cottage dating back to the late 16th Century is listed for sale on a few property websites, confirming the £350,000 valuation and providing more clues as to what life could be for the winners of the competition in their new home.

The civil parish of Redgrave can be reached by driving along the A1066 from Diss via the villages of Roydon and South Lopham.

With lots of footpaths and bridlepaths to discover, this quiet part of eastern England attracts many hikers and dog walkers with the rivers Waveney and Little Ouse and the Wildlife Trust's Lopam Fem.

Neighbouring towns Diss, Harleston, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmonds feature historic markets and are great places to enjoy local products, including delicious food and wine.

If you like theatre, make sure to visit the newly refurbished 18th Century Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmonds. The village of Redgrave boasts Sir Francis Bacon and Cardinal Wolsey as former residents.

Visit the Competitions Directory for more details about the 2011 Dream Cottage, including a link to the exact location on Google Maps.
